Seems Cool, July 13, 2009
By DeeWah from Lawrence, MA (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

Advantages: Performs well, Style/Design, Value for money

"I bought this reel Yesterday so its kinda early to review it but................................... it a GREAT deal! I got it down at the shop just because I wanted a seconds set-up for fishing poppers while my chunk bait sat out there on my Baitrunner. This reel feels good. It cast pretty far. The only thing I don't like is the folding handle. The handle just does not "flow". I think overall it has great bang-4-da-buck."

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Value for money, good drag quality
Disadvantages: frame has some flex

"decent reel, casts great. the frame has some flex. but I landed a 80 pound tarpon from the beach in about 45 minutes. drag stays smooth even with a tarpon run. great reel for the price."

Great Drag, June 4, 2009
By Seeker5000 from So Cal (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
Disadvantages: loose handle

"I bought a pair of these for me and my son. We have been surf fishing in So. Cal. We have been doing it old school, with 12' rods and 20 lb test. We have taken them out 3 times so far and they have performed awesome. They cast like a dream. We have landed about 50 fish in the 3 trips. Only two of the fish were large enough to mention, 4' shovelnose guitarfish in the 25 to 30 lb range. They gave us a run for our money and the drags worked better than any spinner I had used in the past. Smooth as silk! If I was going to mention one design idea for Daiwa here, it would be to use a solid handle. The folding handle is convenient, but there is a little wiggle in it. I sure it would stand up to any fish I would ever attempt on a spinning reel, but it does not have a quality feel to it. We are still waiting for large shark to truly put these to the test. Tight lines and no lies :-)"

Cheep, August 9, 2007
By Howie

"I have a eight year old Diawa that is much better than this new Emcast.
The spare spool is unfinished.
When I took the reel out of the box it did not reel. I had to pull it apart and reassemble it the right way. But still had dried wax in the gears. A complete cleaning and rebuild was needed. But it's still very weak in the frame twisting a lot just reeling in a 4oz. sinker.
I could not take it back where I bought it since Bass Pro SanAntonio is 150 miles away.
I do not believe it will hold up to a 25lbs fish. So I am selling it.
Howie"
