great rod, August 7, 2007
By northenfshr

"The rod is wonderful. pullin in 10 or 12 pound steelhead or salmion is a blast on 6# line. i fish rivers (mostly the credit) and it has served me well, i have the 8'6 rod, in MH and i find even though it works awesome for those tough fish, 6 pound is a bit light for it and i'd go for the medium. the only problem i find with it is i mostly do cast and retrieve and i hate casting with 2 hands, and after a couple hours even though i have the 8'6 rod, my wrist starts hurting. also, (even though it's basically my own fault....) i'm used to fishing with 6 and 6'6 rods.....and i tend to stick this guy in the trees a couple times when i'm fishing. Other than those few small flaws, beautiful rod and there's nothing like haulin these fish in on some long rods...
Go buy one if your considering...don't hesitate.

Oh yes, buy it with the combo with the pflueger president reel, greatest reel i've ever used comes to $113 CDN and u most definently get your moneys worth"

Very high quality for the money, December 19, 2006
By fishonthebrain (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

"My first Browning rod, and I am impressed. I am a catch and release only angler who purchased the 8' 6" Med. spinning model to fish live shiners under a slip float for smallmouth and largemouth bass on East TN reservoirs during winter. So far, during the last three fishing seasons, this rod coupled with a Shimano 2500 spinning reel (usually spooled with 8-10-lb. P-line) has landed numerous large bass along with some sizable brown trout. The stout construction and workmanship are impressive -- at least as good if not better than my rods costing 2-3X it's price. Only drawback is that it tends to be on the heavier side, but then again, I'm used to more expensive lighter rods that will surely never hold up as long as this one has, and probably will continue to. Definitely recommend it."

"i have three of the salmon/ steelhead series rods and have had great success and no problems. i have the 15', 10'6" in spinning, and 9'6" in casting they all have caught very nice fish and i have no rods break, or even any problems with them. i am looking forward to buying more of these rods when i have the money this winter and summer."

Salmon Tamer, September 26, 2006
By Salmon1 from Antioch, IL (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

"I
just picked up this rod this season. I got the MH rod. Casting off the
piers of Lake Michigan for King Salmon has been a real treat. With the
long rod with 10 pound fireline I can cast smaller lures further than
most can toss a 1oz spoon. I can feel every pulse of crankbaits and
rattle baits. Best of all a very secure feeling when a spawn run King
Salmon is trying to make a run on you. I have longer rods set up with
heavier line, but this is now my go to rod. I can cast all day and not
be exhausted after it all.
Highly recomend this rod."
